Rachel Weber

Rachel is a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and will be completing her 30 credit Masters program in Health Systems Engineering in December 2009. As an undergraduate, Rachel worked as an intern for UW-Hospital under Professor David Zimmerman on process improvement projects for the Clinical Affairs Department. This work has continued into graduate school for Rachel where she is now a Research Assistant. Throughout college, Rachel has been involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). She also has developed a love for travel after her semester studying abroad in Budapest, Hungary.

Rachel enjoys her Research Assistant position at UW-Hospital because she is interested in improving operations and services in healthcare. She has been exposed to many of the challenges that an inpatient hospital faces, in particular, integration of an Electronic Medical Record system. Rachel’s advisor for the Masters program is Patricia Flatley Brennan.
